CBSE Class 10 results 2018: Dyslexia, no barriers for this girl, aces boards with her expression

For Laila Kalyanwala, who had trouble reading and comprehension, clearing board exams was a dream come true. Laila aced CBSE's class 10 board exam including a perfect score of 100/100 in the subject of painting. Laila, a student with dyslexia, was assigned a customised module of subjects meant for special students like herself.

Laila, a student of Prerna — a center by Calorx Foundation for students with special needs, appeared for her board exams through Delhi Public School, Bopal.

Surender Sachdeva, Principal, DPS Bopal, said, "For Laila, analysing her strength, we customised a special programme that included subjects of her choices. We Social Sciences with Music, replaced Mathematics with Home Science and Painting so that she can study subjects of her interest." "What Laila has done is something we could never have imagined."

Sheroy Kalyanwala, Lailas father, who works as a Business Head at an automobile company, said, "We are very happy. She was born talented and was always interested in creating things. She had dyslexic traits and had some issues in reading and comprehension. But we are glad that the school created a module for her as per her strength." Laila now wants to study fashion designing.
