Noida: Five arrested for pelting stones at policemen
Five men have been arrested for allegedly pelting stones and attacking a police party with sticks in the Haziapur area on Wednesday afternoon. The police said that the incident took place when they went to vacate a disputed property in Sector 39. During the stone pelting, six police officials including the station house officer were injured.
According to the police, a land dispute case between two private parties was registered at the Sector 39 police station. The police said that the complainant has already obtained a stay order on the land from the Allahabad High Court.
"We received an information that the competent party was doing an illegal construction at the disputed land. Based on the court's orders and the complaint from the victim, a police team reached the spot to stop the illegal construction," said a senior police officer. However, instead of stopping, few persons from the competent party started pelting stones. "All the injured police personnel were rushed to a nearby hospital and have been receiving treatment," the police officer said.
Following the attack on the police, a case under sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 307 (attempt to murder), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 333 (voluntarily causing grevious hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 336 (act of endangering life or personal safety of others) and several other relevant sections was registered against six named and 50 to 60 unnamed persons.
"Based on the FIR registered, the police raided the area with extra force and arrested five persons in connection with the case.
