Rajasthan: Students of 5 castes to get reservation benefits

The students of five castes including the Gurjars who are included in the Most Backward Class (MBC) category, will get the benefit of MBC reservation for admission in various universities and private and government colleges of the state.  The MBC quota has also been included in the admission policy of the academic session 2018-19 from the Department of Higher Education.

Under the reservation provision fixed by the state government, the benefit will be given in admission to SC, ST, OBC and MBC class students. For admission in law college, students of the reserved category will be given five per cent relaxation in the eligibility marks percentage.

As per the Admission Policy, transgender students would be able to easily get admission in government and private colleges in the state as they would be given admission on minimum passing marks basis. Special emphasis has also been given on furthering education among girl and women students who would be given extra bonus three per cent marks during admission. Besides, they need not take admission between two academic sessions and thus more women of higher age group could get higher education.

In order to make the education system more job-oriented and integrate skill development, courses by recognised ITI and polytechnic institutions would be considered equivalent to class 10 and class 12.

The Directorate of Higher Education (DCE) also clarified the percentile system for admission. In order to calculate percentile of ITI and polytechnic students, the percentile band data of science subject of RBSE would be the base.

Further, out of the two candidates having the same percentile, the one who has percentile without bonus mark would be given priority in admission.
