All is not well in Indian women's cricket team?

Rumours of a rift between India's women cricket team and head coach Tushar Arothe have surfaced after the abysmal performance in Asia Cup Final.

According to ESPNCricinfo report, Arothe was not invited to a meeting attended by Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Committee of Administrators (COA) chief Vinod Rai and member Diana Edulji.

The report alleges that after the below-par performances in the home series against Australia, tri-series that also featured England, and the Asia Cup final has driven a wedge between the coach and 'high-profile' members of the team. One of the reasons for discord is reportedly the changed training method. The new method involves two training sessions in the morning and later afternoon with an optional session in the afternoon. The team wants one long session in the day so that the rest of the time can be utilised for training in the gym and an optional session if necessary, reports the sports site.

Another alleged reason is the iffy selection calls. Especially over the omission of 17-year-old Jemimah Rodrigues. The decision to leave her out reportedly came after consulting with Harmanpreet and Mandhana.

The report also suggested that the poor performance in Asia Cup is also the reason that the proposed conditioning camp between June 15-25 was cancelled. Now the camp at National Cricket Academy Bengaluru will be conducted in two batches on June 30 and July 5. Barring Harmanpreet and Mandhana who are playing in Kia Super League, a select group of batsmen and quick bowlers will take part.

Indian women's cricket team will next face Sri Lanka in September before leaving for World T20 in November in West Indies.
