Mumbai: How mistaken identity got this couple beaten up by Andheri pub staff
A couple was assaulted in a Mumbai pub on May 27, allegedly by the staff members of the establishment, Mid-Day reported. While the staff has been booked, the pub owners allege that the couple repeatedly assaulted a bouncer before the staff retaliated.
According to the report, Yash Kukreja and Vedika Sangtani had visited Agent Jack’s pub in Andheri to watch the IPL final. After the match, music started playing and the couple started dancing. On the floor were a group of teenagers and a middle-aged couple.
A while later, the middle-aged woman complained to the staff that one of the teenage boys was harassing her. However, in a case of miscommunication, the staff assumed the teenage boy to be Yash and reprimanded him.
Vedika then reportedly clarified the confusion with the woman and then approached the staff to clear the air. The middle-aged woman also reportedly clarified the confusion with the staff. However, the staff members refused to listen and allegedly assaulted Yash. When Vedika tried to intervene, she was allegedly assaulted.
Both Yash and Vedika then approached the Amboli police station, where the cops called the accused. A waiter also arrived and corroborated Yash and Vedika’s story. Meanwhile, a senior officer asked his team to bring the alleged accused to the police station. When the cops reached the bar, they were told two bouncers have been fired and the owner of the franchise is on leave.
An FIR was filed under sections 143, 147, 149, 504, 504, 323 of the Indian Penal Code. However, the owner of the establishment, Dibyendu Bindal told the daily that the couple was drunk and misbehaved with the staff.
