Anandpal Singh encounter: For technical reasons we didn’t re-enact encounter at night - CBI
Premiere investigation agency CBI has clarified that the re-enactment of gangster Anandpal Singh’s encounter could not be done at the night due to technical reasons. The agency gave this clarification after Raj Kanwar wife of Anandpal Singh and leaders of Rajput community had objected to re-creation being done in the daytime, whereas the actual encounter had taken place during a no moon night.
As per Sunil S Ravat, DSP CBI, who heads the team; “The CFSL had decided that the encounter recreation be carried out during the day. This was because a study of relative positions, markings, firing and videography would accurately not have been possible during the night.” The CFSL was to prepare the projectory of weapons used in the encounter and that requires accuracy to the minutest level. This, he added, was also not possible in the night.
A projectory has been prepared by the CFSL on basis of postmortem report of Anandpal and this would be corroborated with the results of the re-enactment. The CFSL had taken into its possession all weapons of SOG, Haryana and Rajasthan police and conducted a forensic check on them.
This investigation will give report about how many times a weapon was fired. From what distance it hit Anandpal and also whether a particular weapon was actually fired on not. CBI now awaits CFSL report as it would be a very important aspect on deciding on the sequence and happening of the encounter.
