'Mentally unstable' knife-wielding man held outside Kerala House in Delhi when CM Vijayan was inside
Hours after security forces gunned down a man who barged into former J&K CM Farooq Abdullah's home, another man - this time in the national capital - was apprehended for trying to enter Kerala House with a knife when state CM Pinarayi Vijayan was inside.
The man was later arrested. The Delhi police said that he was mentally unstable and had been sent to the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences'.
However, leaders have suggested that the attack was an assassination attempt. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor condemned the incident. "Just spoke to @vijayanpinarayi to express my concern over the attempted assault on him in Delhi. The politics of violence must end in India. I call on @PMOIndia to send a strong message to all that in our democracy there is no place for knives, guns or mob-lynchers," he tweeted.

Earlier, a man was shot dead by security forces in Jammu on Saturday when he rammed his car into the residence of National Conference president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah.
The incident took place at Bhatindi this morning when the man drove at a high speed and banged his car against the main gate, police said. He then began ransacking the house and was shot dead.
The man was identified as Murfas Shah, a resident Mendhar in Poonch district.
"There was an attempt of forceful entry into the house (Farooq Abdullah's) by an individual named Murfas Shah, a resident of Poonch. He forced his way through the VIP gate in an SUV. He was unarmed. Investigation is underway," SD Singh Jamwal, IG, Jammu Zone, said.
