Use all your powers to fight cattle menace, Gujarat High Court tells AMC
A division bench of the Gujarat High Court on Monday asked the concerned authorities to make use of all powers vested in them to ensure that the roads were free of cattle nuisance.
The court made the observation when the AMC brought it to its notice that many of its officers came under attack whenever they went to impound cattle on roads. It also sought the court's time till Tuesday to present before it a definite permanent solution to the problem of stray cattle in the city.
On the issue of parking, the court reminded the state to carry out a survey on parking facilities in the city and the state and that the present drive against illegal parking, though laudable, should not be a mere stopgap arrangement.
It also asked the AMC to ensure that there is adequate parking space made available for citizens and that all decisions and policies should keep in mind the needs of the city in the next two decades.
The court also observed that based on the affidavits filed by the AMC, it seems that things were moving on the right track and the civic body had taken commendable action in the matter concerned.
