WATCH: Swapna Barman's mother's priceless reaction while watching her daughter win Asian Games gold
Swapna Barman had created history by becoming the first Indian heptathlon athlete to win an Asian Games gold, a feat she achieved despite competing with a toothache. Swapna, who hails from Ghoshpara Colony in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district, had to fight all odds including acute poverty.
Her mother worked as a labourer in small tea gardens while her father was a rickshaw puller and is now bedridden. Now, a video has emerged of Swapna's mother watching her on TV during her historic performance at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang.
In the video, Swapna's mother can be seen getting deeply emotional as she watched the race at her home with her family. She cries inconsolably as he folks lend her support.
