GST on re-import will be settled: CR Chaudhary
The union minister of state CR Chaudhary assured that the issue of reimport will be settled in the next GST council meeting. He also promised that he will also address the age old demand of Jaipur jewellers for setting up of Gems Bourse with the central government. Chaudhary was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of the 12th edition of JAS 18.
On demand of jewellers for starting of a flight connecting Jaipur and Hong Kong, Chaudhary said that he will get the flight started after discussions with civil aviation minister. He said that keeping in mind the passenger load the flight will be via Delhi. He praised the gems and jewellery industry for its contribution of 6-7 percent in country’s GDP. While praising the organisers of the show, he said that Jaipur has made a mark as gemstone capital and such shows will create a distinct identity of Jaipur at international level.
The special guest of the ceremony Member of Parliament Ramcharan Bohra said that if the proposal of Gems Bourse is presented before the government, then fast decision will be made on it. With this, efforts will be made to provide land at concessional rate for the Bourse. He said that Jaipur without jewellery and jewellery without Jaipur is incomplete.
The chairman of Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council Pramod Derewala said that as many as 13 facility centres are being created across the country for training of artisans associated with gems and jewellery industry.
