If you want to make changes in your voter id, this is what you have to do
Work on the revision of electoral rolls began on Saturday and will continue till October 31. This is the first time this drive will continue for two months within which addition, correction and deletion of names will be done. Prior to this, the drive used to continue for one month.
On January 1, 2019, those who turn 18 years and above will have to fill form number 6. Transfer of enrolled electors to a new assembly constituency will also have to be made through Form 6. New overseas electors will fill up Form 6A. For deletion of names one will have to fill out Form 7. For correction of names, one would need Form 8. For transposition of electors from one polling station to another within the same constituency will have to be notified through Form 8A. For issuance of replacement Electors’ Photo Identity Card, form EPIC 001 will need to be filled in.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Ariz Aftab said that on September 9, 23, October 6 and 28, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) along with booth level agents of different political parties will be present at different booths.
On January 4, the final list of voters will be published on the basis of which the next Lok Sabha election in 2019 will be conducted. In the draft list published on Saturday it was found that the total number of voters in the state was 6,80,50,595 of whom 3,50,21,409 were males, 3,30,27,933 were females and 1,253 belonged to the third gender. Number of service voters stood at 92,067 on September 1, 2018.
A toll free number for enquiry – 1800111950, has also been put up at the CEO office in Kolkata. Electoral literacy Clubs (ELCs) have been put up to spread awareness among voters. Mostly schools and colleges would be used to spread the awareness among senior students who would soon be ready to vote.
Campaigns through advertisements in print, electronic and digital media will also be carried out and there will be door-to-door visits by BLOs and other field level functionaries.
