Metro coach to arrive in Ahmedabad today
Come Saturday, the residents of Ahmedabad will be able to see the mock-up version of a Metro rail coach. The coach, which arrived from his design-centre in South Korea to Mundra Port on Friday, will be on display at the Sabarmati Riverfront for a good four to five months as it will reach Ahmedabad by today.
"The mock coach will be out on the Riverfront on October 6, 2018, for public viewing. Due to a cyclone in Japan, the delivery of the coach has been delayed by a week. The coaches have been designed in South Korea, as per the international standards," said IP Gautam, MD, Metro Link Express for Gandhinagar Ahmedabad (MEGA). The officer said that the coaches will be unveiled by the chief minister on Saturday.

It is to be noted that the trial run is expected to start by January 2019. The Metro will comprise of three coaches and an engine, which is expected to arrive in the city by December.
"The mock coach is 16-meter long, while the regular coaches are 22-meter long. The city's metro will have the capacity to ferry 1000 people at a time. There will be three coaches in trains for starting and it could be extended up to six coaches, stations have been designed in a way where six coaches can be parked. There will be 40 person's seating capacity and 300 people can stand in a coach," said Gautam.
