'Sui Dhaaga' Box Office Collection Day 1: Slow start for Anushka Sharma-Varun Dhawan's family entertainer
Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma's 'Sui Dhaaga - Made In India' experienced a slow start at the ticket counter on Friday because of the Asia Cup Final match between India and Bangladesh. The Sharat Katariya directorial recorded Rs 8.30 crore on Day 1.
However, considering the advance booking numbers for Saturday and Sunday, 'Sui Dhaaga' might see a big jump over the weekend. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the collection of the film on Twitter.
“#SuiDhaaga has an encouraging Day 1… Had an ordinary start in the morning shows, but gathered momentum as the day progressed… Film lost out on a big chunk of biz due to #AsiaCup2018 finals, but should recover lost ground on Day 2… Fri ₹ 8.30 cr [2500 screens]. India biz,” he wrote.

Continuing, he added, “While #SuiDhaaga is expected to grow on Day 2 and Day 3, its biz is expected to jump from Day 4 [Mon] *evening* onwards, since Day 5 [Tue] is a big national holiday: Gandhi Jayanti… A strong total is on the cards, if its target audience [families] throng cineplexes.”

The film tells an endearing story of a small-town couple - Mamta and Mauji, who re-discover love while establishing their own textile business. Both Anushka and Varun have been hugely lauded by the critics and audiences for their earnest portrayal of innocent, ambitious village folks.
'Sui Dhaaga' brings together National Award winning producer-director combo of Maneesh Sharma and Sharat Katariya after their super hit film 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha'.
