Fasting Jahajpur MLA Dheeraj Gurjar’s condition worsens, hospitalised
MLA from Jahajpur near Bhilwara, Dheeraj Gurjar, had to be shifted to SMS Hospital in Jaipur on Friday after his health condition deteriorated following his hunger strike that lasted for over a week. On Thursday night, Gurjar had collapsed unconscious while addressing a gathering in Jahajpur at a sit-in site and was rushed to hospital. However, due to dearth of proper treatment facilities, the doctors referred him to Jaipur.
Gurjar has been fasting to pressurise the government into meeting his 15 demands concerning the Jahajpur constituency. He had earlier claimed that the government officials are not approaching him owing to pressure from the government.
Various tests were done after he was admitted to the hospital and doctors found that the sugar content in his body had decreased to 60. Moreover, the ketone value had increased to +4. An eye witness revealed that while speaking to his supporters regarding continuing of the fast till the demands are met, the legislator suddenly vomited and fell on the ground unconscious.
He was rushed to hospital by his supporters and the news about the development spread quickly. Soon, host of party workers, NSUI workers and locals assembled at the hospital and the cops had to cordon off the building and close the gates to the room where Gurjar was being treated.
When on Friday morning the sugar level could not be restored, the doctors referred him to Jaipur for further medical treatment. Although his supporters persuaded him to end the fast as the government had met most of his 15 demands, Gurjar did not budge.
A few days ago, some of his supporters created a tricky situation in Jaipur when four of them climbed a mobile phone tower near Commerce College at JLN Marg in support of his hunger strike.
