Now, smart restrooms for women in Jaipur

Stepping up further in Smart City mission, Jaipur will now have smart restrooms for women where women can feed their children. Apart from this, the ATM facility will also be available. Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) will construct ten smart toilets in different areas of the city. The work of constructing smart toilets has been started at three different places already.

These smart toilets will be made under Phase II of the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP) for which the RUIDP has sanctioned Rs 50 crores for this. According to the municipal officials, the cost of a toilet will be Rs50 lakhs. Construction of the smart toilet has been started at Govind Dev Temple, Moti Doongri Ganesh temple and the Riddhi-Siddhi crossing situated at Gopalpura Bypass. Mayor Ashok Lahoti had laid the foundation of the smart toilet a few days ago at Gopalpura bypass. Apart from this, the toilet will be constructed near Kumbha Marg bus stand, Tonk Road, Kalwar Road, Amer Road among other spots.

The smart toilets will be fully air-conditioned and will be categorized into two parts. One part will be for men, while the second part will be for women. There will be a dressing room, feeding room and insulator room with women’s toilet. In the dressing room, women can change the dress. Mothers will be able to feed their children in the feeding room. While an insulating machine will be installed in the insulator room where sanitary napkins can be disposed of in a hygienic manner.

Notably, toilet facilities for women in the city are not very good at present. The number of women’s toilets is also very low. Women have to face problems due to the small and unhygienic toilets. After the development of a smart toilet, women are likely to not face any trouble.
