Rajasthan: Govt staff likely to get Diwali bonus before Dussehra
The state government is in the process of giving the bonus to the state government employees on the occasion of the festival of Diwali. However, this time, the final decision on this will be taken by the election department. If accepted, then the employees may get Diwali bonus even before Dussehra.
Sources informed that the decision of giving the bonus has been taken and the state government has taken the decision. This is a normal exercise of every year as the bonus is given by the government to its employees. This time, however, elections have been announced and the model code of conduct is in place, therefore, the file has been sent to election department for its consent as the government cannot take a policy decision.
Sources informed that once the green signal from the election department is received, the order of issuance of bonus will be issued by the finance department. For calculation of bonus, the year 2003 has been considered as the base year.
Sources informed that the grant of the bonus will give benefit to employees, right from class IV level to second-grade teachers. In all, it will benefit about 11 lakh employees. Currently, the model code of conduct is in force and all major decisions related to employees need to get the nod of the election department.
Just a day before the model code of conduct was implemented in the state, the government had announced the increase in dearness allowance to its employees. Department of personnel recently had to take back the order of transfer of 3 IAS officers and 8 RAS officers as the transfers were made after there was speculation that they were done without getting the nod of the election department.
