Set up guest houses at Statue of Unity, Vijay Rupani to other CMs
With the date of inauguration of Statue of Unity nearing, the state government is going all out to promote it. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has written to all states asking them to set up guest houses at the site of the world's tallest statue, a senior bureaucrat said.
The Statue of Unity, being built at a cost of Rs2,989 crore, is slated to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Preparations have already begun for the mega event, which is expected to see participation from several states.
Chief Secretary JN Singh said that Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has written to chief ministers of all states urging them for setting up guest houses at its site.
"Sardar Patel worked to integrate the country. The Statue of Unity is a fitting monument to pay tribute to him. The aim behind requesting other states to set up guest houses near the statue is to showcase a symbol of united India," Singh said.
The top official also said that the state government would provide 2,000-2,500 sq metre land to states for building the guest houses.
"Uttar Pradesh has already shown interest. We are confident that other states will also follow suit," he said, exuding confidence that the Statue would emerge as a global tourist destination.
In the meanwhile, the state government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that inauguration of the statue is a huge success.
Senior ministers and bureaucrats have been asked to travel to different states to personally invite CMs and governors to the inauguration of Statue of Unity, and to also visit the statue.
Agriculture minister RC Faldu was in Assam yesterday, while minister of home for home Pradipsinh Jadeja was in Himachal Pradesh. Today, minister of state for education Vibhavari Dave was in Tripura. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani is expected to travel to Uttar Pradesh to invite Yogi Adityanath for the inauguration, said officials.
