One held for killing doctor in North-West Delhi's Jahangirpuri

The North West district of Delhi police on Friday has apprehended one of the accused involved in the murder of Dr Iqbal Qasim who was robbed and murdered at his residence by some unknown men in North-West Delhi's Jahangirpuri area in this month. Police have recovered half of the cash that was robbed. The hunt for the other associates is underway.

The body of Dr Iqbal Qasim (57) was discovered after a month by a distant relative who had come to visit him at his residence around 10 am.

The body of the 57-year-old was found before his daughter's wedding and valuables worth lakh were missing from his residence. He apparently had no visible injury marks on his body.

Dr Mukim lived on the first floor of his clinic in H-block of Jahangirpuri.

Police suspect the murder took place between 7.30 am and 10 am when Dr Mukim was alone at his residence. The assailants were well aware of the routine of the family and struck at a time when he was alone.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) AK Lal said that one of the accused involved in the murder of Dr Iqbal Qasim has been nabbed. Some of the cash has been recovered. Teams are raiding all possible hideouts of the remaining two accused in West Bengal, UP and places near Ranchi.

"The arrested accused is a juvenile. He confessed that on receiving an information that there was cash in the house they planned a robbery. They decided to enter the house when the doctor would be sleeping. They suffocated the doctor with a pillow," said Lal.
