Maldives FM Abdulla Shahid elected next UNGA President

Maldives Foreign minister Abdulla Shahid has been elected as the president of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly that will start in September. He got 143 votes in the election. To become the President of the United Nations General Assembly, a candidate needs 97 votes in the 193-member strong UNGA.
