Yuki Bhambri, Divij Sharan advance in second round of Men's doubles at French Open

The Indian pair of Yuki Bhambri and Divij Sharan advanced to the men's doubles second round of the French Open after blunting the challenge of Fabrice Martin and Purav Raja.

Bhambri and Sharan, who had also teamed up at the inaugural Maharashtra Open, sent Raja and Martin packing with a 6-3 5-7 6-4 win in the opening round of the clay court Grand Slam.

They next face second seeds Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic.

Yuki Bhambri's maiden appearance at the French Open came to an abrupt end when he crashed out of the tournament, losing to 111th-ranked Ruben Bemelmans from Belgium, 4-6,4-6, 1-6, in the men's singles match on Monday.

Another Indian in the second round is Rohan Bopanna, with his partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin. The 13th seeded Indo-French pair are up against local team of Benjamin Bonzi and Gregoire Jacq.

Rohan Bopanna and his French partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin began their Roland Garros campaign with a comfortable win over the American team of Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe, 6-3, 6-1 proceeded to the second round in the men's doubles match of the tournament.
