Apple's 'Screen Time' restrictions go weak against smarter kids

Apple introduced its 'Screen Time' restrictions a few weeks ago to ensure kids do not spend more time on gadgets than permitted. Now, it seems kids are outsmarting these restrictions. Parents have reported about the ways their kids were getting around the limitations set on the phone and app use on a Reddit thread.

One of the hacks is when the screen time runs out, the child goes to App Store and downloads a previously installed, but removed, game through the cloud icon and it works without limitations. The first revelation led to many parents sharing their own experience with their smarter kids. One of the kids would send himself YouTube links in iMessage to watch videos which can be watched beyond the time set for the YouTube app.

Recently, Apple announced that it has completed its acquisition of Shazam -- one of the world's most popular and highly-rated music apps -- with plans to soon make the service completely ad-free. Shazam -- which works by allowing users to identify songs simply by listening to the music playing around them -- is currently used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide, but has to-date operated with ads sporadically interrupting service.

Apple aims to change all that - and fast. Commenting on the acquisition via an official statement , Apple confirmed that it will soon offer its experience ad-free for all users and said that the takeover was a match made in music heaven.
