Rajasthan: They weave colourful clothes with their ‘scarred’ fingers
A group of 72 lepers living in a Kusht Ashram located in Galta mountains of Jaipur have now become an inspiration for all.
These lepers work as a team and are continuing their work by supporting and encouraging each other at every step since the past 40 years.
At present, their works is praised not only in India, but people from Germany and England also admire their talent.
Even after being physically disabled, these people have never lost their courage and made their weakness their biggest strength.
These lepers make clothes which are famous in different parts of the world. The products that they design are appreciated so much that the garments made by them are preferred by the residents of foreign countries too.
The USP of this ashram are the Bagru print bed sheets, the cloth for the same is also prepared by the inmates here. They then hand print these bedsheets with desired colours and send them to buyers.
Along with it, they also prepare mats, towels and many other things with their hands. The unique thing about Sarthak Manav Kusht Ashram is that the office bearers maintaining the ashram are also lepers. The responsibility of the committee of the ashram is also on their shoulders and the constant support from each other, has become their biggest strength, maintain the inmates here.
Deputy Head of the Ashram, Sitaram said that we are living here for last 40 years. After coming to this ashram, we became self-reliant. At the same time, another artist Gajanand said that we have got a second life after coming here, we are working together and encouraging each other for years.

The unique thing about Sarthak Manav Kusht Ashram is that the office bearers maintaining the ashram are also lepers. Constant support from each other has become the biggest strength for these inmates.
