BJP to deploy top leaders for Rajasthan Assembly polls
Taking no chances, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will field top leaders and party stalwarts in the coming Assembly elections.
Party president Amit Shah has deployed ministers, MPs and MLAs from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana in the border districts of the state to campaign for the party. In addition, four union ministers have been given charge of different districts of Rajasthan.
In the last Assembly elections, the BJP won 163 out of 200 seats, followed by sweeping all 25 Lok Sabha seats in the general elections. The BJP wants to repeat its last performance in this Assembly election too. In order to elect Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India once again in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Amit Shah has taken the command of the state assembly elections.
Shah first gave the responsibility to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Arjun Ram Meghwal and national vice president Om Prakash Mathur to formulate the party's strategy. Now ,Shah has assigned Rajasthan to union ministers - Mansukh Mandaviya, Satya Pal Singh, Shiv Pratap Shukla and Krishna Gopal.
The team of four union ministers will visit different districts of the state and will contact senior and old leaders of the party. They will monitor the party's election campaign and will try to curb the rebellion in the party. These four ministers will report to Shah directly. Union Minister Mansukh, who is from Gujarat, has been given the responsibility of Udaipur district adjoining Gujarat, which has sizable population of Gujaratis.
Similarly, being from Jat community, Satyapal Singh has been entrusted Sikar district, to woo the community in Sikar region. Apart from this, the central leadership has also sent union minister Shiv Pratap Shukla and Krishna Gopal to Rajasthan. But no responsibility has been given to them yet. Uttar Pradesh BJP's Hindutva face and member of parliament from Muzaffarnagar (UP) Sanjeev Balyan has been given the charge of Kota district, which is considered to be the stronghold of the RSS and Bajrang Dal. Balyan 's Hindutva brand politics may help BJP get the benefit by the polarising votes.
UP Government Minister Mahendra Singh has been deployed in Bharatpur district, which adjunct to UP. Apart from this, BJP has appointed former Gujarat Home Minister Shankar Bhai in-charge of Jalore and Sirohi. According to sources, Jeevan Garg of Punjab, KC Patel of Gujarat, Pawan Rana of Himachal and Ashish Sood of Delhi, UP MP Satyapal Saini will also be sent to Rajasthan. Their names have been included in the list, but they have not yet given any responsibility.
